Barclays To Pay More Than $361M Over Sale Of Unregistered Securities

(September 30, 2022, 11:30 AM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — Barclays PLC (BPLC) and its wholly owned subsidiary Barclays Bank PLC (BBPLC) will pay more than $361 million in disgorgement, prejudgment interest and civil penalties to settle claims brought by the Securities and Exchange Commission that the London-based financial institution violated provisions of federal securities laws by selling approximately $17.7 billion in unregistered securities, according to a cease-and-desist order filed Sept. 29 by the SEC....
