Mealey's (August 24, 2022, 3:02 PM EDT) -- BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A federal judge in Alabama on Aug. 22 ruled that although an insured contractor and its owner lack standing to bring certain counterclaims against their insurer in a coverage dispute in which the insurer seeks a determination that it is not required to indemnify its insureds for any damages against them in an underlying lawsuit stemming from the insureds’ allegedly negligent work on a construction project and that some of those counterclaims are not ripe, others are, and dismissal of those counterclaims is not warranted....
